Ajowan is an annual herb with brown seed, belonging to the family of Apiaceae. This spice is popular in Indian cooking. The Ajown seed are used extensively in curry powder and a general household remedy for intestinal problems. Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of dried seed of Trachyspermum ammi L. Ajowan oil is mainly used in flavouring applications.
